Course Overview

This course covers the introductory information relating to slings, slinging loads and directing loads lifted by cranes. Our course is specifically developed to provide the legally required formal training and assessment standards for the purposes of certification. Practical knowledge performed throughout the training includes:


  • Site hazards

  • Cranes

  • Lifting gear

  • Slinging & moving loads

  • Inspection & storage of equipment

  • Rope knots & splices

  • Crane Signals

  • Slinging



The Written Assessment and Practical Assessment will be completed throughout the duration of the course to those who are competent. Anyone who is not competent in passing the written component will not proceed on to doing the practical.


Materials provided

Course Training Manual and support material, whistle, gloves.


Protective Clothing

Steel cap work boots and appropriate clothing is required for the duration of the course. If possible please bring your own safety helmet and glasses if possible. (Safety equipment will be provided if required).



4 x 8 hour days for up to 8 persons.

  • Participants must be 18 years of age or over.

  • Identification such as QLD drivers licence, 18+card or birth certificate will be required.


Anyone found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be asked to leave the course.
