Confined Space &
Gas Test Atmospheres


Course Overview

The aim of this course is to train all personnel in the requirements of
AS/NZS 2865-2001 (Safe Working in a Confined Space) to enable them to work safely in confined spaces as recognised competent persons. Upon completion of this training the course participants will have the knowledge to:

  • Identify and control confined space hazards

  • Work safely within confined spaces

  • Complete relevant risk assessments and work plans

  • Issue entry permits for confined space operations

  • Operate various confined space safety equipment

  • Gas test atmospheres

  • Discharge the obligations of a standby person, and supervise confined space operations



This is nationally accredited training and participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment and a pocket card for easy proof of qualification. Gladstone Job Skills recommends that persons who attend training in confined space entry should undertake a refresher training every 2 years.


Materials provided

Course training manual and support material will be provided.


Dress Code

Steel cap work boots and appropriate clothing is required for the duration of the course.


Duration and class size

Confined space course duration is 8 hours

  • Participants must be over 18 years of age.

  • Identification such as QLD drivers license, 18+card or birth certificate will be required.


Anyone found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be asked to leave the course.
